1827 Log Courthouse + My Favorites
The 1827 Courthouse is the only remaining Mormon-owned building in Independence that dates back when the first Mormon settlers arrived in Missouri during the early 1830s. The log cabin was erected in 1827 as a courthouse and for a while was the only courthouse found between St. Charles, Illinois and the Pacific Ocean. It was bought in 1832 by Mormon settlers and used as a business, residence and meeting place. This site is open Monday to Friday from 10am to 2pm or by appointment. Address: 107 W.
