The Harry S. Truman Presidential Library and Museum features documents, photgraphs and exhibits from Truman's life and presidency. In 2004 a new permanent exhibit titled Harry S. Truman: His Life and Times was opened, chronicling the President's life through a series of stories, personal memorabilia, video clips and interactive activities. Independence once sat in the crossroads of several frontier trails used by pioneers heading to Oregon, California and Mexico. Today the National Frontier Trail Museum tells the story of these trails, as well as about the people and the businesses affected by the flood of emigrants that came through each year.
